Mouth-blown 'flashed' glass is etched with hydrofluoric acid to reveal subtle and beautiful tonal shifts in colour.

Detail and shading is applied with vitreous paints, and silver nitrate ('silver stain') gives a range of golds and yellows as a final flourish.
