The Osbourne Nativity, Winchester Cathedral Christmas Market
In 2009, as part of the Mission work for the Christmas Market, this was a community project with Osborne Special Needs School. The children designed nativity characters on A4 paper, which Sophie then transferred to moisture resistant MDF and worked with a group of volunteers to paint the characters in the colours chosen by the children. The nativity stable is situated at the head of the Craft section of the market, and the Osborne Nativity was used for three years. It proved extremely popular with visitors, many of whom took photographs to use as their own Christmas card.
It was replaced in 2012 by a new set of figures, also made by Sophie, under the title 'Step Into the Story'.
