Biography (page 2 of 4)

Sophie Hacker’s sculptures use found objects and natural materials—stone, flint and wood—to highlight the beauty of the ordinary and to point to the suffering and joy at the heart of creation. To view these, see Sculptures.

Sophie Hacker’s recent oil and acrylic paintings are rooted in the English landscape. Sketches made on walks are restated in simple forms, with colour and texture used to express the vitality of the natural world. To view these, see Paintings.

Sophie Hacker discovered the potential of soft, chalky pastels during the last year of a fine arts degree. For nearly ten years she used this medium, exploring its possibilities and techniques, and created many images on hand-made paper. To view these, see Art Cards.
